World of Maths
What a fantastic day of interesting and challenging maths problems that we all needed to solve! It was wonderful to see enthusiasm and teamwork as everyone worked together to solve the different maths tasks.
Science Week Activities
We had a lot going on this year for Science Week! The Science Viva Science Show came to visit us and showed us some interesting experiments and activities as well as having mad scientists visit the classrooms as Stage 3 made rainforests in a bottle!

Leadership Camp
On 16th of June the leadership team went to leadership camp at Narrabeen Sport and Rec with leaders from the schools in the Northern Beaches Learning Alliance (NBLA). There were many activities that we did such as raft building, high rope challenges, cook outs, team building and learning leadership skills. In the raft building we were split up into three teams. Each team had to build a raft and paddle around a specific course. The high rope challenge was really fun too as we split up in pairs and had to wear a harness on a rope course that seemed a long way off the ground. We did the cook out straight after the high rope challenge. We had to collect sticks, walk up a big hill and start a fire in a fire pit. We cooked sausages and dampers. The first night everyone participated in a games night where we played a variety of games. When that was over we all got some chocolate milk for supper. I know that everyone had a very fun time and we all made new friends and played fun games.

Aboriginal Performance - Tjupurru
Today, the whole school watched an Aboriginal Performance by a man named Tjupurru. He played an instrument called the Didjeribone, a mixture of the Didgeridoo and the Trombone. While playing the Didjeribone he was wearing a Face Bass which is a sensor picking up the vibration of his moving mouth. He played a lot of his songs and Year 6 got to do the limbo with some of the teachers! We all had a lot of fun and we all wish that he will come back next year! Check him out at: www.tjupurru.com

Sydney Writers' Festival - May 2014
Yesterday, The Sydney Writers’ Festival was the right place to be because Stage Three got to meet famous authors and a famous illustrator. We heard Ursula Dubosarsky and Andrew Joyner read their book Too Many Elephants in This House, a funny speech from Felice Arena, really funny poetry by Steven Herrick and Cornelia Funke read us the first two chapters of her new book. Some of our favourites were when Felice told us about writing stories around sports, Steven read his poems including the one about 10 things your teacher would never say to you and Cornelia got us hooked on her book! Today is National Simultaneous Story Time and the book is Too Many Elephants in This House so we feel extra special that it was read to us by the author and illustrator yesterday! (Joel )

Astronomy with David - Our Scientist
We are part of a program called Scientists In Schools Australia. David works for Canon as a Senior Research Engineer and is our Resident Scientist! Aren't we lucky!
Today David came to school to talk to everyone about Astronomy. We learnt so much about the planets and stars and got to see some amazing photos and pictures. Thanks David for the visit! We look forward to
seeing you next term.

Just Like You
Stage 3 students participated in the Just Like You! Disability Awareness Program. Sam and Marilyn spent 3 hours with us, over 2 days discussing what it was like for people with a disability to be treated unfairly and what we can do to help make the world a friendlier place for everyone. We really enjoyed it and learnt so much!
