5/6S have been lucky enough to have Ms Thomson as an additional teacher this year. Ms Thomson came in Term 1 to do a few days on and off, in Term 2 she came back for 2 weeks and this term she has been with us for the last 4 weeks. We have LOVED having you with us and we hope you enjoyed it too! Thank you Ms Thomson! Good luck with your teaching career and we hope you come back to visit us soon! Have a safe and happy holiday and I look forward to seeing you all back at school on Tuesday 8th October in your summer uniforms! The moonlight shimmered on the gnarled trunks of the forest trees. My heart was pounding as the noise came towards me. I trembled with fear. I started to run. While I was running I slipped and grazed my knee but I got up and continued to run. I was trying to ignore the pain. This was now the worst day of my life. I was still running… It felt like I was running for hours. I couldn’t last much longer but I had to persevere. A while later I collapsed to the ground, grazing my other knee. I blacked out for a second after that and now I can’t remember anything. Now I’m in my bed with no grazed knees. What happened?

Every term, the students have 'contract' work to complete. This contract was in line with our HSIE unit, Identity and Values. There were some outstanding contracts handed in and some examples can be seen on our HSIE page. Check them out!
What a treat! Ms Thomson helped us engineer our own bridges today. We could work by ourselves or in small groups. First we designed our bridge and thought about what equipment we would use. Then we got cracking on making them! The brief was that they had to be able to hold a stapler. Check out the end results! Aren't we clever?
Unfortunately today we said goodbye to Ava and wished her all the best at her new school on the Central Coast. We will miss her kind nature, smiling face and vivacious personality. Keep in touch, Ava!
Today we were creating our own electrical circuits. We had a globe, a battery and 2 aluminium wires. In our teams we predicted how to best piece our equipment together in order to make the bulb work. Some of us were lucky enough to see a quick flicker of light! We don’t think the wires were very good so we are going to try again later in the week with our Science Electricity kits. Welcome to 5/6S! I’m very excited to start a class blog and hope that you enjoy reading about life in our classroom and our achievements. Hopefully it will give you an insight into what your child gets up to at school. I hope that you check it often and I would love to hear your feedback. Enjoy!

Miss SurrestTeaching is my passion! My mum, dad and stepdad are all teachers along with so many of our family friends so I think that it's in my blood.
I was brought up on Sydney's Northern Beaches and absolutely love teaching at Brookvale Public School. I teach Stage 3 (Years 5 & 6) and my class is amazing. They are funny, always willing to learn, adventurous and enthusiastic. Enjoy following our path and seeing what we get up to in 5/6S. Archives
